All of us have that bittersweet yearning of our childhood, the reminiscence which dated way back when things weren’t as complicated as they are now, everyone is hustling in one way or another.
For me, the biggest nostalgic factor is rain. The black clouds with a cool breeze, especially petrichor, you don’t want it to go away. You want that smell in a bottle, as a perfume.

I fondly remember one day, it was6:30 am, and my mom was hurriedly packing tiffin and getting me ready for school. I didn’t want to go to school because I hated waking up and it was about to rain. Suddenly a heavy downpour ensued and mom checked the weather report. The rain was nowhere to stop in 4–5 hours. She contacted school and was hence informed that it was closed for the day. My happiness knew no bounds, I changed into my home clothes and headed out to call my friends and played in the rain for 2 hours until my mom dragged me home, to prevent me from getting a fever.
Rain plays an important role in our lives, we hardly understood the significance when we were young.
During my late teenage years, I used to go to college by train. It was the month of august and I forgot to take an umbrella with me. Hoping rains shouldn’t start from nowhere, I left college and it became dark. The dark clouds were giving an apocalypse vibe. The downpour started and I prayed to reach home safe. I did, and later it came on the news that it rained 468 mm of rainfall in just 12 hours, taking out the lives of 14 people and a further collapse of a building took out 21 people’s lives.
