Despite the painful cramps and PMS, all women agree to the fact that periods are a blessing, an excuse for self-care, and so on.
28th May was chosen as World Menstrual hygiene day. The reason for this date comes from the fact that an average menstrual cycle lasts for 28 days, and the menstruation period lasts for 5 days, hence 28/5. Whereas national period day is on October 10.
As it is the 21st century and menstruation is no longer a taboo, although it is in some areas, a lot of men know about this topic and women are more comfortable talking about their cause of mood swings and cramps.
Some women experience regular periods like clockwork, whereas some women face irregular periods, such as a delay of some days to a week compared to the previous one. But if it delays for 2-3 months, consultation of a doctor is necessary as it can be amenorrhea.

Period cramps are a regular and normal occurrence, as they are caused by compounds called prostaglandins that are released from the uterine lining as it prepares to be shed. They are a necessary part of the process, but when shed in excess, they cause pain. Using heat can relieve the pain, and eating fruits, dark chocolate, and avoiding spicy, oily foods can help ease the process overall.
Thinking about the environment is equally important as thinking about your body. Products like menstrual cups and cloth pads are a great alternative as compared to the disposable ones.
We will discuss the period products in our next article.
